Program Supervisor - Child and Family Services (Infant Mental Health)

Under the general supervision of the Program's Department Head, supervises and coordinates the activities of therapist, case managers, professional and other staff in an identifiable component of service delivery within a program. Program Supervisors are responsible for assuring the implementation and delivery of services to individuals and their families in keeping with the principles of recovery, self-determination and resilience. Program Supervisors are further responsible to assure that all services are delivered in accordance with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. Program Supervisors are responsible for embodying and promoting a positive organizational culture. Program Supervisors actively participate in program specific, agency wide and community wide collaboration to assure a comprehensive system of care for individuals and families.
Infant Mental Health Services provide home based treatment, outreach services and supports to families with infants from pre-birth to three years of age. The primary goal of this program is to support the development of secure and healthy infant-parent relationships for families who have concerns about their infant's social and emotional development. Referrals to this program are made primarily by community agencies and/or health care providers and may be made as early as the last three months of pregnancy. Preference is given to mothers having a mental illness, a developmental disability and teen mothers, although others may also apply for this service.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Training and Licensing Credentials:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling with State of Michigan Licensure.
Master's level such as:
Licensed Master's Social Work
Limited License Psychology
Licensed Professional Counselor
EXPERIENCE
Three (3+) or more years of related, successful and progressively more responsible experience within the specific consumer population in which the position holds responsibility (adults with mental illness, adults with developmental disability, children with serious emotional disturbance, developmental disability, integrated care, assertive community treatment) including a minimum of one year experience in the examination, evaluation, treatment in the specific consumer population in at least one of the following areas; case management; Assertive Community Treatment; Crisis Intervention; or Intensive Case Management / Outreach within the last 5 years.

Two or more years experience supervising clinical staff.
Examples of related experience include:
Previous supervisory experience within a behavioral health setting
Service Coordination

A combination of the following duties in sufficient combination and duration may be considered in lieu of Supervisory
Experience:
Chairing Committees or work groups
Project Leadership or Project Management
Mentoring/orienting and training new employees as a formal assignment
Supervision of students
Internal candidates with two or more years of exemplary performance accomplishments within the program.

Clinical Experience must demonstrate the following clinical competencies:
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate care for the specific clinical needs and ages of the individuals served. Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical needs, symptoms, and behaviors of individuals served, as well as understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span; ability to assess data reflecting each individual's status; interpret appropriate information needed to identify each individual's requirements in relation to his or her age-specific/population specific needs; and to provide the care needed by the appropriate age group - (child, adolescent, adult, geriatric).

Other Competencies and Abilities:
Ability to work in a complex, detail-oriented, deadline structured, busy organization. The following physical and mental abilities are required: frequent lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, must be able to hear, frequent sitting/standing/walking, ability to communicate effectively in person and/or phone, the ability to read, analyze and interpret information, ability to write correspondence and procedures, ability to maintain records, ability to remain impartial during investigative procedures, ability to solve practical problems, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, ability to influence others. Demonstrated proficiency in Micro soft Outlook, Word and such other applications if/when required. Ability to be trained and successfully complete other computer training as required. Valid driver's license, proof of current automobile insurance and driving record determined by the Authority's insurance carrier to be eligible for coverage if required as part of positions duties.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
